Adam Bona Jr., age 99, of Munster, Indiana, formerly of Calumet City, Illinois passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2026.
He was proceeded in death by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Arlene Bona ( August 6, 2020).
Adam is survived his children, Stanley (Debbie) Bona, Barbara (Michael) Schaum, Kathleen (James) Conway and Adam (Joann) Bona III; grandchildren, Jason (MaryJo) Schaum, Adam (Erin) Schaum, Margaret Schaum, Craig Bona, Kevin (Maria) Bona, Sean (Azadeh) Conway, Caitlin Conway and Kara Conway (Toby) Simmonds; great grandchildren, Bryce, Nathan, Nolan, Gavin, Sophia and Claire Schaum and Baby Conway (Sept 2026).
After 45 years of faithful service, Adam retired as Director of Technical services for the Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Chicago. He was responsible for the design, development, construction and maintenance of the 42 Catholic cemeteries. Adam was a lifetime member of American Legion Post 330, a World War II Veteran and also a member of Experimental Aircraft Chapter 260.
He was a “jack of all trades”. There was not anything he could not build or fix and was always available for anyone who asked. After 71 years in the house Arlene and Adam built, he sold it in 2021 and moved to Hartsfield Village Independent Living facility where he finally got to relax and enjoy his remaining years.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Avenue Munster, IN, officiated by Deacon Joseph Stodola. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the 12:00 P.M. service. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Calumet City, IL.
You will be sorely missed Dad, but we know that you are finally reunited with Mom again!
