It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Angeline “Angie” (nee Rizos) Fenoglio, age 97 of Calumet City, IL with family by her side. She was born in her parent’s home on November 10, 1923. Angie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 70 years, Julius “Julio” “Jul” Fenoglio; parents, George and Ann Rizos; sister, Sylvia Lieberman; and brothers, William, Tom and Gus Rizos.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Sharon (Jack) Jeka; grandchildren who loved her to the moon and back, Amy Jeka and Jason (Kate) Jeka; great-grandson, Owen and great-granddaughter, Avery who both put a smile on her face and made her laugh; she is also survived by her siblings, Leona LeJeune and Helen Rusin; numerous nieces and nephews; and also, cousins through marriage.
Angie left school at a young age to help her dad make tamales for his business. She always commented that though she made so many, she never tasted one. Later Angie worked as an Elevator Operator (until they went automatic in the early 1960’s) at the Calumet National Bank in Hammond, IN where she met her husband, Jul through his Aunt. Angie was a fabulous cook, loved to bake, which she generously shared with family and friends. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting and also making clothes for family and others as well. Most of all, Angie was the most loving, kind hearted, caring Mom a daughter could have and a very devoted Grandma. We were blessed to call her Ours! She was a kind soul and will be missed tremendously.
“Your wings were ready, but our hearts and arms wanted to hold you longer.”
