David Andrew Nowakowski, 76, of Schererville, IN, formerly of St. John, IN, and Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully while listening to the Chaplet of Divine Mercy recited by his brother Joseph Friday, July 4, 2025. He was born in Elgin, IL, then raised in Chicago, IL. He was a graduate of Roosevelt University. He then went on to work for and retire from Northrop Grumman Corporation, in Rolling Meadows, IL.

David was the loving son of the late Frank S. and Estelle E. Nowakowski; brother of Paul E., Joseph A., Late Judith Ann Marie; uncle to Daniel. David was a resident of Park Place, St. John in 2017, and then Story Point of Schererville, formerly Clarendale, since 2017.

His brother Joseph A. was his 24/7 care giver since 2020 until the end, upon David’s total blindness and medical issues. Special thanks to Rev. Father Joseph Uko, Rev. Father Robert Ross, Rev. Father Bruno Socho, Rev. Father Sebastian Kochupurackal, and the Carmelite Sisters of the Congregation Mother of Carmel C.M.C.. Special thanks also to the medical staff members, doctors, nurses, CNA’s, and hospice nurses who provided care and comfort to my loving brother David. Thank you.

Services will be held privately on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, section 43, The Polish Millennium Shrine, Justice, IL.
