David A Hasselbring was a man of deep family loyalty and devoted friend to many. Unkie, as he was fondly labeled by his nieces and nephews, had an entrepreneurial spirit that took him into several walks of life including various areas of self-employment. Settling into real estate in various forms, he owned and operated David A Hasselbring Real Estate Appraisal.
One of Unkie’s greatest passions was music, mostly jazz, but he loved to support local performers at his favorite restaurants and lounges. His keen interests in quality culinary delights and libations provided many wonderful meals for those he entertained at home along with many friends in the restaurant business.
An avid storyteller, strong supporter of our Chicago Cubs and Bears, and a big fan of all things New Orleans, especially beignets and chicory coffee at Café Dumont, Unkie will be missed by his sister-in-law, Aleida (Hartge) Hasselbring, honorary Hasselbring family member, Robert (Lurch) Cronch and all David’s nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and lifelong friends.
David, born Jan 20, 1946 in Hammond, Indiana; passing on March 31, 2025, is preceded in death by Father, Irvin (Bud) Hasselbring; Mother, Loretta (Lenz) Hasselbring; devoted brother, Charles Irvin Hasselbring; and Sister, Joan (Hasselbring) Scheerer. Rest in peace, Unkie. A private luncheon will be held in his honor.
