Debra James of Lansing, Illinois slipped peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Surrounded by loved ones, Debbie was finally able to rest after her courageous and hard-fought battle with numerous health issues.  Debbie was the beloved daughter of the late Burnis and Cora Mae James; devoted sister of Vicki James and Rebecca James (Rovelli Grib), loving aunt of Ryan (Candice) James and Teodor Grib, dear lifelong friend of Bonnie Becker, and cherished friend of many.

To all who knew her, Debbie was a shining star and loving spirit who lit up every room she entered. She dedicated her life to nurturing and giving of herself to others. Debbie could throw a themed celebration like none other – always making sure birthdays and holidays were extra special for her family and friends. She loved to laugh and kept her sharp sense of humor even through her toughest health challenges. Throughout Debbie’s four-decade nursing career, she touched the lives of hundreds of patients providing a level of care, empathy, and concern that is rarely seen today. While Debbie’s radiance on this earth will be hugely missed, we rejoice in her peace and take comfort knowing this is not a final goodbye but rather a temporary separation until we are reunited in heaven.
