Edward S. Smiley, 84 of Highland, IN formerly of Munster, IN. passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 23, 2025. He is survived by his daughter, Terri Kohler; son, Mike (Stephanie) Smiley; grandchildren, Becky (Eric) Larsen, Kevin (Ashley) Kohler, Amanda (Matt) Sefton, Randy (Amanda) Baranowski Jr., Jonathan Smiley and Matthew Smiley; great grandchildren, Annabelle, Claire, Gabriel and Natalia Larsen, Logan, Graham, and Jack Kohler, Thomas Sefton, Jacob and Oliver Baranowski; son-in-law, Randy Baranowski Sr.; sisters, Pat (late Ray) Fleming, Casi (Doug) Aplin and Ruthann (Ray) Kritz; brother, Jeff (Debi) Smiley. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Carolyn Jean Smiley; parents, Ed and Irma Smiley; daughter, Anne Baranowski; great grandchildren, Isaac Larsen, Aria Sefton, and Benjamin Sefton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 4, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Thomas More Church, 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 2:00-6:00 pm with a prayer service at 2:30 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN.

Ed was a longtime parishioner at St. Thomas More Church. He retired from Inland Steel on October 1, 1999 after 41 years of service. He was an avid bowler, and bowled with several leagues. Ed enjoyed watching sports on TV. He was a loving Grandpa to his grandchildren and Pop-Pop to his great grandchildren.
