Eugene (Gene) Callahan, 90, passed away Friday, March 20, 2026. Survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy (Gasior); children Jeffrey (Tina) Callahan, Karen (Fred) Afshari, Kenneth Callahan, Denise (Ed) Kaluza; grandchildren Ariel (Maciej) Sepiol, Amber (Corey) Trimolt, Jeffrey and Conrad Callahan; sisters-in-law Nancy Baltrushaitis and Marge Gasior; great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and extended family.

Preceded in death by parents, James and Louise Callahan; siblings Helen (Joseph) Petrunich, William (Emma) Callahan, Dorothy Callahan, Richard (Josefina) Callahan and James (Elizabeth) Callahan; brothers-in-law Robert (Dolores) Gasior, Ronald Gasior, Bernard Baltrushaitis.

Born and raised in Calumet City, Gene worked for many years at Youngstown Sheet & Tube and later owned and operated InWood Products. He enjoyed golfing, traveling, working on home projects, and gardening, and he always had a book “you should read.” In retirement, Gene enjoyed working at the Carmelite Home. He loved nothing more than spending time with family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gene enjoyed watching Westerns and a good ballgame right up to the end. He will be forever loved and missed.

Visitation and Service: Thursday, March 26, 2026, 1:00-3:00 PM, immediately followed by a Service at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Avenue, Munster, IN.
