George Bayoji Akinfe transitioned into God’s Glory on Monday May 12, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife Adebimpe Akinfe; children, Timilehin Akinfe and Tomilola Akinfe; siblings and family, Gbenga Akingbola, M.D., Bishop Elizabeth Arowolo, Joke Osidipe, Yinka Akinfe, Yomi Akinfe, and a host of extended family in America, Nigeria, and the United Kingdom.
Born and raised in Nigeria, George immigrated to the United States in 1972 on a student visa in pursuit of new opportunities for himself and family. He proudly graduated from Governor’s State University and Chicago State University. George was a loving and devoted father to his children and was also the backbone of his extended family in Nigeria and America. A true family man, George was compassionately known as “Uncle George” to his nieces and nephews and was present in their lives for support and guidance.
George was reserved with a quiet, but charismatic spirit. His big smile and hearty laugh would illuminate any room and bring joy to anyone in his presence. He enjoyed watching his favorit sports teams with his family and played soccer in his younger years. George was a strong man of faith who treated people kindly, courteously, and according to God’s Word. He was a brave and courageous fighter that hung on until the end. George transitioned peacefully after his 12-year battle with cancer surrounded with love and guided by prayers.
