Gino T. Ruggeri, 77, of Lansing, IL passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Ruggeri; son, Chris (Jill) Ruggeri; daughter, Kellyn (Kirk) Steingreaber; stepchildren, Ray (Debra) Hood, Tammie (Eric) Morrison, Rebecca and Lisa Ponziano; grandchildren, Kinsey and Max; 5 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren; brother, Nick (Christine) Ruggeri; Aunt, Rosaria Papa; brother-in-law, Marris (Barbara) Garrison; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Francesco and Nina Ruggeri; sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and John Cappello; his first wife, Yvonne Ruggeri; uncle, Rosario Papa; brothers-in-law, Bill and Bob Garrison.As per his wishes, funeral service will be private. Gino will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to Catholic Charities or the St. Vincent DePaul Society in his memory would be appreciated.Gino immigrated to the U.S. in 1937 with his parents. He was parishoner at St. Victor’s Church in Calumet City and a member of the Italian Catholic Federation. He worked long, hard and selflessly to maintain and build the family liqour and pizza business in the area until 2014. He loved fishing, spending time with his family in Alabama, and the mountains. Gino was an extremely generous, kind and considerate man who will be missed dearly by his employees, friends and family.
