James “Jimmy” Thomas Abrinko, 60. of Schererville, IN, arrived in the world on October 20, 1965 with an innate gift for making friends laugh and with a mischievous gleam in his eyes. His personality, wit and love for life were far more than could be contained by this body, and as such, he departed this world May 8, 2026.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife Kimberly Anne (Skertich), two children of whom he was very proud, Christopher and Kiersten. Additionally, those left to cherish his memory are his beloved family, Paul (Monika) Abrinko of Walnut Creek California, Mother-in-law Anna Skertich (nee John) of Munster, Indiana; Brother in-law John (Sherry) Skertich of Highland, Indiana; and Sister-in-law Laura (Ken) Garson of St. John, Indiana. Jimmy was a proud papa to the many baby dolls designated by Kiersten and of course, proud parent to his fur babies, Bella and Monty. Jimmy is survived by a host of nephews, nieces, other loving family members and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Janina, who set the tone by teaching Jimmy to celebrate his European heritage. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Anita and brother, Gregory.
Jimmy was a fan of all Chicago sports except for those Bulls and the dreaded White Sox! He was finally rewarded for his patience and long suffering when the Cubs won the World Series in 2016.
Jimmy was someone who loved having a good laugh and would play a good practical joke. He was always willing to lend a hand to his fellow man and he was a devoted father to his children, especially his “Peanut”. Furthermore, he was very proud of the man that his son Christopher is becoming and all of Christopher’s many accomplishments, including his graduation from med school.
