Janice Lea Mogle (née Du Bois), 69, of Munster, passed away on June 15, 2025, at the University of Chicago Hospital following a long heart-related illness. Born on May 1, 1956, in Portland, Indiana, Janice was the daughter of William Du Bois Jr. and the late Treva M. (Boise) Du Bois. She was raised in Delaware County and graduated from Yorktown High School in 1974. In 1977, she married John T. Mogle in Muncie, beginning a partnership that would span nearly five decades.
Janice possessed a quiet strength, a kind heart, and an extraordinary gift for making others feel welcome. She was deeply devoted to her family, who were the center of her life. She is survived by her husband, John; her children, Douglas W. Mogle and Laura (Mogle) Dunneback; her son-in-law, Jacob Dunneback; and four beloved grandchildren: Tilden, Tyrrell, Thias, and Theodor. She is also survived by her father, William Du Bois Jr.; her siblings, Janelle (Du Bois) Cunningham, Teresa (Du Bois) Exline, and Steven Du Bois (Suzie Du Bois); her sister-in-law, Jane Mogle-Besaw (Frank Besaw); and the extended Tyrrell family—all of whom brought her great joy and could attest to the fact that no one hosted a Notre Dame tailgate quite like Janice.
Throughout her life, Janice poured her energy into work that brought people together. She served for many years as the bookstore manager and special events coordinator at Seton Academy in South Holland, Illinois, where her warmth and attention to detail made her a beloved presence. She also gave generously of her time to Saint Thomas More Catholic Church and Mount Carmel High School. In addition, Janice was proud to be a member of Tri Kappa.
