Janice Szumanski (nee Kuchta), 72 of Munster, IN formally of Hegewisch passed away peacefully on February 24, 2021 with her children by her side.  Janice is survived by her son, Robert R. Szumanski, Jr.; daughter, Tracey Petryka (James); brother, Tony Kuchta (Barbara); grandchildren, Cole, Casey, Chloe and Chandler Szumanski and Madilyn and Ellie Petryka; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert R. Szumanski, Sr.; and her parents, Rudolph and Sophie Kuchta.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021 at KISH FUNERAL HOME 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN with Reverend Declan McNicholas officiating.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Calumet City, IL.  Visitation will be on Monday, at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m. until the 1:30 p.m. service.

Janice retired from U.S. Bank (formally Tranzact Systems, Ltd) in November 2014, where she had been employed for almost 30 years.  Janice’s greatest joy during her retirement years was spending more time with her grandchildren and being able to travel more.  Janice loved to bake and during the holidays you could find her in her kitchen baking tons of cookies and cakes and preparing cookie care packages for family and friends.  Janice will be remembered for her generous, kind and loving heart.  She was always there to help a family member or friend in need.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Janice’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
