Jean Doloras Reddel, 84 of Westerly, RI passed away on August 16, 2025. She spent most of her life in Indiana and later moved to Westerly to be near her family. She was the loving wife of the late James Reddel.
Jean was born in Chicago, IL, on October 17, 1940, the daughter of Warner and Alice (Erickson) Blomberg.
She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hammond, IN, where she worked as church secretary for many years and participated in the Braille Group, Dorcas Committee, and other ministries. Through her church, Jean met some of her dearest friends, with whom she shared countless meals, evenings of wine and movies and lifelong companionship.
Jean was an avid reader who also loved playing cards, knitting, and baking – especially her famed chocolate chip cookies. She took great joy in hosting family gatherings, and her greatest happiness came from her grandchildren. Although they lived in three different states, she visited as often as she could and always sent cards and gifts to remind them how much she loved and missed them.
Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 am on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church 7227 Hohman Ave. Hammond, IN with a family and friends gathering to follow from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment will be private.
She is survived by her children, Patty Beach (Kelley), Susan Trask and Jim Reddel (Lory); her grandchildren, Christopher Beach (Kyle), Lauren Beach, Madeline Turner (Christopher) and Ethan Trask; and her great-grandson, Jackson Beach. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Blomberg, and her granddaughter, Zoe Trask. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jean’s name to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago, IL, or Trinity Lutheran Church in Hammond, IN.
