John Howard Uzubell, 82 of Munster, IN passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2026. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a proud veteran. Following his military service, he dedicated his life to serving his community as a police officer with the Munster Police Department for 20 years, from 1969 to 1989. Even after retiring from the police force, he continued his commitment to public safety, working in security at Community Hospital from 1973 until 2008. His life was defined by service, integrity, and dedication to others.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lorraine Uzubell; his 4 children, Jennifer M. (Brian) Finnegan of Chicago, IL’ Joseph J. (Susan) Uzubell of Valparaiso, IN, Michele D. Uzubell of Schererville, IN, and David M. (Kate) Uzubell of Knoxville, TN. John was a proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren, Alexander, Bradley, Jackson, Grant, and Harrison Uzubell’ His sister, Lorraine Beck. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara (nee Sawacki) Uzubell; brothers, Ronald and Richard Uzubell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in John’s name to the American Legion Post 16 or the Fraternal Order of Police Munster Lodge 147.
