She is survived by her loving husband Gust, married 59 years; Brother James Hicks (Lynn); sisters-in-law Marjorie Hicks, Betty Hicks, Irene Georgelas; nieces Colleen (Leon) Wilkening, Michele (Scott) Decleene, Renee (Mike) Wojciechowski, Karen Hicks- goddaughter (Bob Stupar), Elaine Hicks, Kim (Mark) Torp, Cathy Hicks-goddaughter, Lynn Baker, Sia Priovolas, Paula (Mark) Theotikos, Cynthia Conrad; nephews James (Jen) Hicks, Lon (Cris) Hicks, Clem (Georgia) Hicks; great nephews David (Stephanie) Swenson – godson, Brian Wojciechowski, Dean (Nicky) and Johnny; great nieces Julia (Tom) Collins, Lanie and Clare Collins, Kellie Baumeister, Valerie Burseth, Nicolette (Jarrett), Andrea (Ryan), Catherine, Katina and Kristy; godsons Michael Nelson, Andrew Gal, and Kevin Wadycki; close friends Sharon Marmelejo, and MaryAnn Abraham.
She was preceded in death by her parents Cloren and Mary Hicks; Brothers Robert Dupree, John Hicks, and Thomas Hicks; Sister-in-law Joann Hicks; brother-in-law Andy Georgelas; niece Kelly Arquette.
Kathleen lived in Munster most of her life, working at the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad as an Executive Assistant. She we very active at St. Thomas Church especially with St. Vincent de Paul. She also started the St. Clare Soup Kitchen at Holy Name in Cedar Lake.
Kathleen became a member of the Secular Franciscan Order, professed on June 20, 1998.
Kathleen was deeply loved by her family and friends. She was a very loving and giving person. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 2:00-6:00 pm with a 4:00pm Prayer service at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Funeral Mass will be Monday, July 15, 2024 at 10:00am at Holy Name Catholic Church, in Cedar Lake, IN. Interment to follow at Holy Name Catholic Cemetery.
