Kathleen M. Golec, 71, of Hammond, IN passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2017. Kathleen is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Robert J. Golec, who was her high school sweet heart. Loving mother of Robert II (Cheryl) Golec, Lisa (Fred) Matson, Joseph Golec, Cheryl (Mark) Johnson and Susan (Sam) Dimopoulos. Cherished grandmother of Robert III, Nicole and Bradley Golec, Ashlee, Andrew and Alyssa Matson, Jayden Golec, Emily and Sarah Johnson, George and Ana Dimopoulos. Proud great grandmother of Peyton and Aubrey. Many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Air Force Captain Fredrick J. and Evelyn (Whittaker) LaPlant; in-laws, Joseph and Tillie Golec. Visitation will be on Thursday, October 5, 2017 from 2:00-8:00 pm at KISH FUNERAL HOME, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. and continue on Friday from 9:30-10:00 am at St. Joseph Church Hammond, IN with a Mass of Christian Burial being celebrated at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway, 14th Floor, New York, NY 10004, www.jdrf.org in her memory would be appreciated. Kathleen was a member of American Legion Post 232 Ladies Auxillary. She loved to hang out with her grandchildren and attending their events. Kathleen will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Shocking. Gone way too soon. My heart and prayers go out to every family member. What a wonderful lady. She will be missed terribly.

Absolutely heartbroken at the passing of Mrs. Golec. Kind, caring and always a smile. Every one of my memories of Mrs. Golec brings a smile to my face. The whole Golec family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
