It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved daughter, Kathryn C. Gikas. She passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, leaving behind a profund legacy of compassion and devotion. Kathryn (Katie), a beloved mother, daughter, sister and friend left this world too soon but her warmth, kindness, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Lily Ann; mother, Kathryn; father, Louis Peter; siblings, Sophia and Panagiota; great grandparents, Kathy and John; nephews and niece, Louis, Anastasia, and Julian; and extended family and friends who will miss her dearly.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church 13631 S. Brainard Ave, Chicago, IL. Visitation will be on Friday, January 17, 2025 at KISH FUNERAL HOME 10000 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Trisagion starting at 6:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. service. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
A devoted mother to her cherished daughter, Lily Ann, was the epitome of selflessness. Katie’s love for her daughter was unwavering and she made every moment with her count. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family while she touched the lives of everyone she met with her kindness, patience, and radiant smile. Katie was deeply devoted to her family. Whether it was hosting family gatherings or simply enjoying quiet moments at home, she always placed her family first. Her love and support were unwavering and presence in the lives of those she cared about will be missed.
In her professional life, Katie was a dedicated and hardworking Phlebotomist. She took pride in her work while always prioritizing the well-being of her patients with a gentle and caring touch. Katie’s ability to comfort and connect with those in her care was a testament to her kind nature and commitment to make a difference in the lives of others.
Katie may be gone from this world but her love and light will continue to inspire and guide us. May she rest in peace and may her memory be eternal.
