Lester Weiss of Munster, passed away aged 89 on October 11, 2017. Lester was a loving, kind and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Lester was born on October 19, 1927 in Gary and was a graduate of Gary Emerson High School. He served in the US Army and attended Indiana University. Following college, Lester and his father, Sidney, co-owned a grocery store in Gary. After the store closed in the late 1960s’, Lester became a Sales Entrepreneur, successfully representing several consumer product lines. For the past several decades, Lester was a dedicated member of Congregation Beth Israel in Munster, and was active in Temple Beth El Men’s Club, B’nai B’rith, Jewish War Veterans (Sam Neivelt Post). Lester will also be fondly remembered as a skilled card player and passionate story teller.Lester is survived by his son, Barry (partner Naomi Cohen); grandchildren Lenny and Lindsay; and special friend Carol Slavik-Blander. Lester was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; daughter-in-law, Jody; parents, Sidney and Rose Weiss; sister, Alice Masef; and aunt, Anna (Andor) Mendel. Lester was a loving, kind devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a good friend to many. Services will be held on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at 3:00 pm at KISH Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at Kish. Internment shall be held immediately afterwards at Temple Beth El Cemetery, Portage, IN.
