Louise M. Skawinski (nee Military), 74, of Saint John, IN passed away on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. She was preceeded in death by her husband Stan Skawinski; and parents, Bernard “Ben” and Rita (nee Kehoe) Military of Hammond, IN.

Louise is survived by her son, Jeff Smigla of Munster, IN; daughters, Lisa (Steve) Williams of Cuba, MO, Angie (Bob) of Naperville, IL; sisters, Barbara Arentz of Brea CA, Loretta (late Patrick) Burke of Highland, IN, Diane (Steve) Pirowski of Pierston, IN; grandchildren, Rebecca (Buddy) Scharfenberg of Cuba, MO, Gavin of Naperville, IL, Ryan of Naperville, IL; great-grandchild, Aubrey Scharfenberg of Cuba, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

Louise was an employee of State Farm for 20 years. In her retirement she enjoyed playing bunko and shopping, especially at Costco in the recent years. Louise was an active member of her church, spending time socializing with other members. One of her favorite things was hosting holidays, especially Christmas Eve, the day she passed to host her yearly party in Heaven.

Friends may visit with the family on Monday, December 29, 2025 from 3:00 to 7:00pm with a prayer service at 4pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN. A Mass of Chritian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 11:00am, at St. Margaret Mary Church in Hammond, IN. Entombment at St. John St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Hammond, IN to follow.
