Lukas Gregory Tsirtsis, age 20, of Munster, Indiana passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 in Indianapolis, IN. We may never know exactly how the infection that led to his necrotizing pneumonia happened, but we know how much he is loved and how deeply he will be missed.
Lukas was a son, grandson, brother, nephew, godson, cousin and a friend to so many. Words can never express how much we will miss his signature smile, outgoing personality and warm heart. Born on October 1, 2005 in Munster, IN, Lukas is the beloved son of George and Christine Tsirtsis; brother to Leonidas, Aristotle and Thalia Tsirtsis; Grandson to Gregory and Toula Partsas and George and the late Anastasia Tsirtsis. Great-grandson to Eleni and the late Theofanis Sistovaris. Lukas is survived by many aunts and uncles: Sam (Violet) Sistovaris, Ted Partsas, Bill, Gus (Terry), and Marino (Dawn) Tsirtsis; cousins: Michael (Vicki), Alex (Tarin), Jason (Missy) and George Tsirtsis; godparents Ellen (Ben) Nowlin and Spiro (Sheridan) Megremis. Lukas is also the pet parent to Zoe, who will miss his cuddles and kisses. Lukas is preceded in death by cousins Jillian Tsirtsis and infant Stephanie Sistovaris.
Lukas grew up wrestling at Region Wrestling Academy (RWA) and formed many lifelong bonds and relationships with his fellow athletes and coaches. He is a graduate of Mount Carmel High School, class of 2024. While attending Mount Carmel he was an Individual State Qualifier and part of the 2022 State Championship team. Lukas competed at Mount Carmel’s prestigious annual Fight Night on three separate occasions, winning twice. He later coached and developed young athletes for RWA and was grateful to give back to the place he loved so much. His natural athleticism will be remembered by everyone who saw him compete or witnessed his backflips during a family event, practice, or social gathering.
Lukas was attending Indiana State University in Terre Haute, IN and studying drone technology. He had plans to join the armed forces after graduation. We will never make sense of this sudden loss, but we will always be grateful for the time we had Lukas in our lives. His memory will live through us.
