Marisa Colucci, age 84, of Lansing, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. She is survived by her children Vienna and Lorenzo, who adored her, nephews Joe, Roberto and Riccardo, and niece Giusy. She is preceded in death by her husband Dino, parents Giuseppina and Pasquale, brother Paolo, brother-in-law Gemino, and sisters-in-law Tina and Margherita.
She was born in the small mountain town of Collepietro in the province of L’Aquila in Italy, where she studied and worked until she met and married Dino and moved with him to the United States. She was co-owner and manager of Colucci’s Pizza, which served the Lansing and surrounding communities for almost fifty years.
Her children were her whole world, and she ensured they received the best education and were supported in any and all ways in everything they wanted to do. A voracious reader who was fluent in two languages and would challenge herself with all manner of crossword puzzles, she was an avid card player (some would say a card shark) and an excellent cook who could master any recipe. After initially claiming allergies, she became the sort of dog grandmother who would cook and make birthday cakes for Blake, Jerry and Missy. She had the most beautiful green eyes and a razor-sharp wit. You could instantly win her over by speaking Italian to her, mentioning your Italian heritage or that you’d visited Italy. She delighted in watching her shows on the Italian cable channel. Words cannot begin to describe the myriad layers of this complex, luminous human being.
To her children, she was larger than life, and her loss is incomprehensible.
