Martin J. Collins, 83, of Munster, IN passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan Collins (nee Hap); daughters, Kathleen (Ray) Eisbrenner, Mary (Glenn) Milos, Peggy (Gary) Masse and Eileen (Doug) Sheets; son, Marty (Trish) Collins; grandchildren, Lynn (Ed), Michael (Allie), Ray Jr, Danny, Michelle (John Paul), Alyssa, Tony, Megan, Mikayla, Katie, Michael, Molly & Jimmy; great granddaughter, Ava; sister, Julianne Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis and Nellie Collins.Marty was a graduate of Bishop Noll Institute Class of 1953, and Marquette University in 1957, with a degree in History. He helped his five children through college, which culminated in 4 Engineers and a Nurse, and was extremely proud of each of them.Marty was a gracious man who made a difference in the world through his tireless effort to excel in his profession but more importantly, to make a better life for his family. Love, hard work, and persistence were his guiding principles. His family is blessed to have had Marty in their lives. Beyond family values, Marty demonstrated commitment to friendships and giving back to others. As an avid amateur photographer, Marty was a longtime supporter of the Share Foundation, documenting events for newsletters and website. As a 50+ year member of St. Thomas More Church, he volunteered as a teacher of religious education and later delivered for Meals on Wheels and served at the St. Joseph Soup Kitchen.Friends may visit with the family on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 3:00-8:00 pm with a prayer service at 4:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at 10:00 am at St. Thomas More Church, 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. In lieu of flowers, donations to the SHARE Foundation in his memory would be appreciated (sharefoundation.org).
