Mary Velasquez, 87 of Highland, IN passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. She is survived by her daughters, Leslie and Margaret Velasquez; grandchildren, David Velasquez, Joseph Velasquez, Maria Velasquez, Angela Velasquez, Tiffany Dusina, Tabitha Kuzemka, Luna Velasquez, Quinton Velasquez, Gavin Velasquez, Eliana Velasquez, Max Velasquez, Taluala Kuzemka and Liam Bland; daughter-in-law, Carol Velasquez (nee Camp) and Carrie Velasquez (nee Wolfgram). She was preceded in death by her parents, Delfino and Rosa Juarez; former husband, David Velasquez Sr., sons, David Velasquez Jr. and Martin Velasquez; sisters, Rose Juarez, Irene Jackson, Olga Juarez, Esther Espinoza, Francis Villarruel, Delfina Obregon and Hortensia Juarez; brothers, Guadalupe and Jesse Juarez.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 31, 2022 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Grace Church, 3025 Highway Ave. Highland, IN. Interment will be at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 30, 2022 from 2:00-6:00 pm with a prayer service at 2:30 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and on Monday from 10:00-10:30 am at the church.

Mary retired from JJ Brodsky & Sons Inc. She was the former proprietor of Pepe’s in Lansing, IL. Mary was a lover of classic literature, avid Bulls and NBA basketball fan, loved to travel, watch cooking shows, bowling, tennis and shopping.
