Nancy Hodgson (69), of Crown Point, IN passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 25, 2018. During her final days she was surrounded by family and friends. She is survived by her children Greg (Glory) and Mary (Dale), sister Maureen (Rich), brother Larry (Elaine), grandchildren Kailey, Alyssa and Jonathan, nephews Michael (Stacie), Ricky, Chris and Ben, nieces Karen (Dave), Rachel, and Sarah, great niece Kaitlyn, great nephew Cameron; loving friend, Chuck and her cat Molly. Nancy was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Hodgson and mother, Mary (Hank) Toppel. Nancy was a kind, creative, loving and generous person. She loved to sew, decorate and design. Nancy enjoyed talking and laughing about all her good memories growing up, great summers camping, many years living in the Florida Keys, away from the cold Midwest winters, and fun times with family and friends. Nancy retired from Florida Fish and Wildlife and recently earned her Medical Transcriptionist Certificate, with Honors. A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018 from 9:00-10:00 am at St Maria Goretti Church, 500 Northgate Dr, Dyer, IN 46311. Mass will follow at 10:00am with interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip, IL.In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of the Calumet Area, 600 Superior Avenue, Munster, IN 46321 would be appreciated. http://www.hospicecalumet.org/get-involved/donate/

So wonderful re-uniting with Nancy for our 50th High School Reunion. We went to Seven Holy Founders Grammar School and Mother of Sorrows High School together.. She was always so cute and funny. Two of my favorite memories were wait o g for the bus on the corner every day and sharing our life events every day and going to the Prom and dancing the night away in our formal gowns. She will always be part of some of my favorite memories!

I am saddened by the call I received from Nancy's daughter Mary last evening. Although I have not known her for a long period, we became friends and she talked about her life and what meant the most to her. She had a great impact on my life, as I just went through the same with my loving mother. I became close with Mary and offered her advice. I will never forget Nancy and her love of life! May she rest in peace and my heart goes out to the family!
