Richard D. Curtis, age 80 of Munster, IN passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of over 35 years, Maureen S. Curtis.
He is survived by his two loving daughters, Diane (William) Hamrick and Suzanne Curtis; one loving son, Brian (Jackie) Curtis; one loving grandson, Noah Curtis; one sister, Patricia (John) Eastin; one sister-in-law, Kathy (John) Dunn; one brother-in-law Martin F. (late Carol) Shreibak; four nieces, Elizabeth (John) Watkins, Jennifer (Shannon) Hansen, Laura (Andrew) Sexton and Shannon Shreibak; two nephews, John (April) Dunn and Ryan Shreibak; and five great nieces and nephews. Richard was preceded in death by his loving parents, Lucille and William Curtis.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 DIRECTLY at St. Thomas More Catholic Church 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN with a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Memory Lane Memorial Park Crown Point, IN. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at KISH FUNERAL HOME 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 5:00 p.m.
Richard graduated from Purdue University with a B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering and Indiana University with a M.S. in Business. He served as a First Lieutenant in the Army during the Vietnam War, receiving the Army Commendation Medal. Richard was a Professional Engineer and Consultant with over 40 years of significant contributions to the railroad and rail transit industries including numerous patents. He was also a member of St. Thomas More Church, National Society of Professional Engineers and American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Richard was an avid Purdue fan and a long-time member of the John Purdue Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in his loving memory. His family is very grateful for his lifetime of love and devotion.
