I had the pleasure of knowing Dick for the past 20 years or so. He was a soft spoken, knowledgeable man who knew his craft extremely well. As much as I knew and respected Dick as an Engineer, I respected him even more for the caring and considerate way in which he conducted himself. He was patient and generous with his time and knowledge. As a Big 10'er myself (PSU '90) I loved talking college football with Dick. He was the biggest Boilermaker fan I've ever known. I really can't say enough about Dick. I do know that he will be missed and everyone who was fortunate enough to know him is better for it! Rest in peace, my friend.

Dear Curtis Family, I was deeply saddened to hear of Dick's passing. He was a brilliant engineer and wonderful person, and I am so lucky that I had the chance to work with him and get to know him. I'll always remember Dick's big smiles and kind voice. I will miss his hand-written Christmas cards, too. I'll be thinking of you during this difficult time.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Dick was a really great and good man and the definition of a gentleman. I always looked forward to seeing him when our paths crossed for work.   One evening after a meeting while at dinner, he told me that his father was an engineer and that his father’s train used to come by Dick’s childhood home. When Dick was a boy, he would wait outside for his father’s train to come, and his father would wave to him from the cab of the locomotive. Dick created a HO scale train scene with his father’s train coming by a house, with a little boy standing next to the house watching and waving.   I’ll miss him a lot.

We will always remember Dick coming into design reviews with full size paper copies of the design package which he preferred to review on paper! He was a very bright man and a gentle soul that will be missed. Jordan

Dick was the kind of engineer, all engineers wish they could be. He looked at the details and used his vast experience to point us in the right direction. But greeting him at a meeting was the best. I always looked forward to seeing Dick because smiles were all around and I felt the connection with him right away. Dick was a friend to many and the consummate engineer who left his mark on our industry. We are saddened by his loss, but we will remember him and the lives he touched. Martin
