Robert Sky Allen (born March 6, 1954) of Munster went to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, September 11, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late Robert and Jeanne Allen; devoted husband of Janna (Compton) Allen; loving father of Melanie (Karl) Sprague, Jason (Jane) Allen, and Lane (Shane) Smith; grandfather of Joshua, Isaac, Merrick, and Alyssa Sprague; Ezekiel, Violet, and Hope Smith; brother of Sandra (Bruce) Elmore, Sally Kerby, Scott (Wirinpak) Allen, and Susan (Paul) Vale; son-in-law of Janice Compton and the late Dr. George Compton; brother-in-law of Dr. Eric (Julie) Compton, and Dr. Adam (Jeannine) Compton; cousin of Nicki Lagoudakis, Jody Tucker, and Alane Butt; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was a lifelong student, attending classes part-time or full-time over 14 years for a remarkable total of 293 post-secondary semester hours, culminating with a Ph.D. in community psychology. He has had numerous articles published, including three in academic journals, and has had three children’s books published. He established two careers, in theology for 31 years and in psychology for 18 years. He traveled to all fifty states and seven foreign countries. He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ in Hammond.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 at 12:30 pm at Faith United Church of Christ, 3030 175th St, Hammond, IN, with visitation at the church for two hours leading into the service (10:30 am – 12:30 pm). Pastor Paul Vale of New Life Christian Church in Whiting, officiating. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN.
