Seymour Kolten, 88, of Munster, Ind., died peacefully on Jan. 6, 2017, in Indianapolis. Cy was born in Chicago on June 25, 1928, and grew up in nearby East Chicago, Ind., where he graduated from East Chicago Washington High School in 1945. Shortly after, he met Eva Moskovitz on a blind date and later won her affection through his love letters. The two married on March 12, 1950, and settled in Gary, Ind. They remained married for 66 years. Cy worked a variety of retail jobs in Northwest Indiana, but was especially proud of his business, Matt Sales, which he operated for 30 years. In his free time, Cy enjoyed visiting with family and friends, studying horse racing and discovering the area‚ best delicatessens. He was a member of Congregation Beth Israel in Munster. Born a triplet to Morris and Freida Kolten, Cy was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Jean Kolten and Helen Dornberg; infant brother; daughter, Nancy Feldman; and sister-in-law, Lillian Green. He is survived by his wife, Eva; daughter, Carol (Elliott) Segal; grandsons, Matt (Jenifer) Segal, Bobby (Rachel) Segal and Josh Feldman; great grandson, Asher Segal; brothers-in-law, Maury Dornberg, Eddie Green and Don (Iris) Moskovitz; son-in-law, Ed Feldman; and several nephews, nieces and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, at 1:30 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Avenue, Munster. Rabbi Mordechai Levin and Rabbi Emeritus Raphael Ostrovsky will officiate the service. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Beth El Cemetery, Portage, Ind. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory to the American Diabetes Association.
