Sigmund served in the United States Navy from 1951-1953 and was active during
the Korean War as a medic on his ship. He was very proud of his service and
regularly was seen wearing his Navy hat.
Sigmund was a pipefitter at Youngstown/LTV Steel Mill for 30 years. After taking
early retirement, he went on to work for the School Town of Munster as a custodian for ten more years.
He was a devoted grandfather to his grandchildren. He and his wife watched four
of the six boys from birth to five years of age which spanned a total of 20 years! He and his wife visited the two other grandsons out of state as often as possible.
They loved to travel and visit family and friends across the United States.
Thank you to the neighbors and caregivers who helped us during the last 3-4 years.
