Steven Ray Burse, 57, of Munster, IN passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018 after a long battle with Multiple Myeloma. He is survived by his wife Doreen (Cummings) Burse, his children: Oliver, Simon, Deven and Spencer Burse, father Frank Burse, brothers: Kenneth (Barbara), Richard and Jeff Burse, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.Steve is preceded in death by his mother Norma Burse.Steve was a graduate of Western Illinois University and DeVry University. He had a long successful career in transportation & logistics, working for several distributors including Martin Brower, Prosource, Marriott Distribution Services, Dawn Foods & Whole Foods; the latter two of which he brought distribution operations to Munster, IN.Upon semi-retirement in 2008, Steve made serving others & his community his passion. Steve was Church Council President & Call Committee member for Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lansing, IL. He was active in Munster PTO & supported the disaster relief efforts of the United Way during the Munster Flood of 2008. Steve served as President, Munster Little League as well as a coach and team manager for several years. Steve served on the board of Munster Babe Ruth, The Munster Swim Club (Recognition Director, Treasurer & Business Manager) & most recently as President, Munster Hockey Club. Steve also worked in collaboration with Munster Parks & Rec to create Munster’s first vintage baseball team, The Munster Centennials for which he served as manager.A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 8601 Harrison Ave., Munster, IN 46321, followed by a service at 3:00 pm with Pastor Peter Speckhard officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Steve’s name be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Munster.
