Theresa S. Flynn (Nee Vavrecan) 95, of Munster, IN, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025 at home surrounded by family, she was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth W. Flynn (ret. Lever Bros.) who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter Susie (Chuck) Schotten; son Danny (Stephanie) Flynn; step-daughter Pat (Jim) Landowski; son-in-law, Joe O’Brien; grandchildren Katie (Zach) Holobowski, Linda (Paul Burlingame) Landowski, Christie (Steve) Crider, Kelley (Jeff) Thompson, Joseph (Amber) O’Brien, Patrick (Katelyn) O”Brien, Christopher (Caytlynn) Schotten, Sam (Kristina) Schotten and Hunter Flynn; 15 great grandchildren, Aunt and Great Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.

Theresa was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Christine Vavrecan ; step-daughter Terri O’Brien; sisters; Ann Toth, Marge Janek, Mary Domsich, Helen Vavrecan, and Sophie Hatczel.

Theresa was a former resident of Whiting, IN, she was born on January 28, 1930 to Joseph and Christine (Nee Janik) Vavrecan. She attended Immaculate Conception grade school and was a graduate of Whiting class of 1947. Theresa is a former member of IC Parish where she sang in the choir, member of the Rosary Society and St. Ann Sodality, more currently a member of St. Thomas More Church, Munster and the First Catholic Ladies Association BR 452. Theresa was blessed with neighbors, and caregivers who she shared stories of her life with. She was an avid reader of the NWI Times, Amish, Love stories, and murder Mystery books. She also enjoyed cross words and her “Shows” on TV.

Visitation will be on Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 5:00-8:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Friday, August 29, 2025 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday August 30, 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Thomas More Church, 8501 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN.
