Timothy R. Schock, age 78, of Munster, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. Tim was born on March 19, 1946 to Melvin Schock and Mary Alice (Molter) Schock in Hammond, Indiana. Tim grew up in Hammond and was a graduate of Hammond High School in 1964. He then went on to attend the University of Mississippi, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma. He spent his career in sales with the majority being in the railroad industry. During a blind date in 1971, he met a girl from Atchison, Kansas, Colleen McKelvy, and fell in love. They were married in 1972 and began a life together in Lisle, Illinois. They were blessed with two daughters, Amanda and Alison. He loved being a father to his two girls more than anything. He was a lifelong member of Woodmar Country Club where his love of golf began. In 2000, his best round of 63 became the course record. In later years, he was also a member of Briar Ridge Country Club where he won several Senior Club Championships. He played in many other tournaments throughout his life and was a frequent winner.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Colleen (McKelvy) Schock, his daughters Amanda Fletcher and Alison (Nathan) Eldreth and 3 grandsons, Owen and Evan Fletcher and Declan Eldreth, sister Mary Jo Heaton, sisters-in-law, Kathleen McKelvy, Mary McKelvy and Kerry (Paul) Wirth and brother-in-law Dolan McKelvy, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Mel and Mary Alice, his brother-in-law, Jock Heaton, sister-in-law, Mary Pat McKelvy and mother and father-in law, Dolan and Gere McKelvy. His charismatic personality and infectious sense of humor, as well as his genuine interest in others, left an impact wherever he went. In later years, his quiet faith fostered an attitude of gratitude, which was inherently clear when he was with his family.
Services will be at Kish Funeral Home at 10000 Calumet Avenue in Munster on Friday, December 13, 2024. Family and friends are invited for a visitation from 1-3pm, with a memorial service beginning at 3pm. Father Charles Niblick will be officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in honor of Tim to the Evans Scholars Foundation or Hammond-Munster Salvation Army.
