William John Benedict 83, of Schererville, IN. formerly of Hammond, IN. passed away Sunday July 13, 2008. He was a former Inland Steel Company Employee with 40 years of service and a member of the 25 year club. John was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WW II. He is survived by his daughter: Debra (George) Baranowski of Schererville, IN.; son: Thomas (Sandy) Benedict of Crown Point, IN; grandchildren: Zachary, Tyler and Brittany Benedict of Crown Point, Brett and Kristy Baranowski of Schererville, Airman Bryan Baranowski of Pensacola, FL. (Eglin AFB); sister in law: Katherine Stengel of Griffith; numerous nieces and nephews; Mr. Benedict was preceded in death by his beloved wife: Pauline; sisters: Mary Gronek, Judy Hetrick and Helen Hirchak; brother in law: Julius Stengel Jr.; niece: Judith Carpenter and nephew: Robert Gronek; Funeral service will be Thursday July 17, 2008, 11:00 AM from Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. (next to Fitness Pointe) Munster, IN. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home;
