Zisimos “Sam” Loxas, 87, of Highland, IN passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 18, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dina; daughters, Denise (Charlie) Golfis and Georgia (Angelo) Tsiongas; grandchildren, Dimitri (Kristin) Golfis, Sam Golfis, Thanasi, Leah and Sam Tsiongas; great granddaughter, Madalyn Tsiongas; many siblings, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, numerous nices and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgios and Dionisia Loxas; four sisters and one brother. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 4:00-8:00 pm with the Trisagion service at 7:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 7021 Hohman Ave. Hammond, IN. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN.Sam was born in Pigadakia, Zakynthos, Greece on January 18, 1931. He moved to Hammond, IN with the help of his brother, John along with his wife and daughter in 1967. He was best known as the “Produce Man” for over 40 years at J&M Reliable Supermarkets. Coming from a large family, one of eleven, Sam took pride working on their farm. He also served in the Greek Military. He enjoyed spending his last several years splitting time between Indiana and his homeland. He will be greatly missed.
