Amanda Lynn Jez age 47 of Munster, Indiana, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2023 at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, IL. She is survived by her loving husband Michael Jez; Children Emma and Jack Jez; Mother Marlene (Thomas) Hill; Sister Kristine (Jason) Chapman; Mother and Father-in law Tom and Lorraine Jez; Sister-in-law, Lisa (Brian “Buzz”) Bennett; nieces and nephews Tyler and Sydney Chapman, Drew and Lauren Bennett. Numerous cousins, family and friends. Preceded in death by her father Joseph “Joe” Blees, Grandparents George and Mary Hodgson and Karl and Mary Blees, Aunt Carol McBrayer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at 10:00 am with visitation from 9:00 am until time of service at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church located at 500 Northgate Drive Dyer, In. 46311 with Fr. Charles Niblick officiating.
The Family will meet friends and family for a time of visitation on Tuesday June 13, 2023 from 4-8 pm at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, In. 46321. (Across from Fitness Point), and again Wednesday, at the church from 9 am until the 10am mass.
Amanda Jez was born in Hammond, Indiana on September 26, 1975 to (late) Joseph James Blees and Marlene (Hodgson) Blees-Hill. She was a lifelong resident of Northwest Indiana. She was an assistant principal at Wilbert Wright middle school and Elliot elementary school. She was long-time teacher with over 25 years of wonderful of service in the education field. She attended grade school at St. John Bosco Catholic School in Hammond, Indiana and St. Thomas More Catholic School in Munster, Indiana. She was a member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church in Dyer, Indiana. A graduate of Munster high school class of 1993. She was a member of the Jr. Women’s Club. She attended Indiana University and received her Bachelor’s degree in Education in 1997, subsequently a master’s degree in administration. She was a proud national board-certified teacher, and a member of the Indiana Teachers Association.
As we celebrate Amanda’s life, her family encourages those in attendance to wear yellow, her favorite color or pink in honor of breast cancer awareness to the funeral mass. Any cheerful color will help family and friends remember her bright, cheerful and positive attitude. Amanda touched many lives in her profession. She was truly loved, admired, and will be greatly missed by many.
