Donna Marie Balash, age 57 passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Dave Ivers; her step children, Jamie (Monica) Ivers and Jenna (Tony) Mercurio; her mother, Andee Balash; her brothers, Michael (Jenny) Balash and Daniel (Katelyn) Balash; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, step-grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her bird, Joey. Donna was preceded in death by her father, Donald M. Balash.

Visitation will be on Friday, January 31, 2025 at KISH FUNERAL HOME 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN from 3:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be private.

Donna was a graduate of The University of Illinois and earned her Master’s Degree from Northern Illinois University.

Donna and I went to grad school at NIU together. We became good friends and always stayed in touch. She was my daughter’s Godmother. Even when some time passed we just picked up right where we left off. We would talk and laugh for hours. Donna’s laugh was legendary! You couldn’t help but laugh along with her. When my mother died in 2007, Donna and Dave adopted her cockatiel, Joey. I was so happy he went to a good home! The last time I spoke with her was last December. I will miss her very much! Love you, my friend.

I am so sorry to hear of Donna's passing. She was a well-liked and respected colleague of our work family, and she will be missed. May you find peace and comfort in the memories you cherish and the love you shared as you navigate the difficult days ahead. My deepest condolences.
