Joanne Capretti was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She left this world peacefully, at home, surrounded by her children on December 21, 2020.Joanne spent her younger years in an orphanage and then as a teenager had to step in to take care of her younger brother. Once she was finally old enough to venture out on her own she found herself working as a waitress at John’s Pizzeria, where she eventually met her husband. Their love story wasn’t perfect but they managed to create the beautiful family that she had always longed for.Joanne loved spending time in the kitchen creating delicious meals for her family; there never could be too much food. When she wasn’t the one doing the cooking you could find her nearby hovering making sure it was being done correctly.Joanne was preceded in death by her husband John and her four brothers Harry, Martin, Donald and William. Joanne is survived by her three amazing children; John (Joni), Tina and Annette. She was so proud of her six grandchildren; Scott (Shelly), Lauren, Sara, Chris (Aimee), John Anthony and Jim (Katie). Joanne also had nine beautiful great grandchildren Alexis, Jordan, Ryan, Addison, Nicholas, Benjamin, JJ, Lucas and Aubrey.A celebration of life memorial is scheduled for January 2nd, 2021 from 12:00-4:00pm at Kish Funeral Home located at 10000 Calumet Ave Munster, IN 46321. In Joanne’s memory we ask that you spend time cooking a meal with your family creating everlasting memories.

This is the woman that helped shaped my life. She loved but had no problem telling you when you were wrong. My entire family loved her but I had a special bond. I still have a birthday card that says from your leading lady. She was more beautiful inside then out but that is pretty hard as she was so beautiful.
RIP you so deserve it. Johnny (BRO) Tina and Annette you are family and always will be. My heart is breaking for you.

Tina,
You and your family are in my prayers!
I only met your Mom twice and she was a very nice lady! You were so strong to keep your Mama at home, which is what she wanted! She loved you and you were a wonderful daughter. Love you!

Thank you Joanne for the recipes you helped me perfect as you stood over me, not able to give me measurements because you didn’t use any.....” just a pinch” .. “no more than that”...” I don’t know .. this much” .....but you explained until I got it..... Scott I know is happy that I can at least come close enough to help remember the excellent meals you made!!!
I remember my first meal with you and the spread you made!!! And afterwords while we were drinking coffee you wanted to hold Peach,( little black chihuahua) she jumped out of your arms and like a pinball jumped into every dish you made..... I feared you would be so upset But instead you laughed so hard at all the saucy paw marks on everything!!!! I will truly miss your , cooking, stories, and blatant Honesty! Breathe Easy Joanne I will see you again or day!!
