Harry William Colias, age 80, of Munster, IN passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Colias; son, James H. (Sarah) Colias; three grandchildren, Rachel, Hannah, and William Colias. He is also survived by his siblings, George (Pauline) Colias, Mary Ann Julius, Nancy (James) Kostopoulos, and James W. (Susan) Colias; sister-in-law, Shirley (Robert) Hines, Elizabeth Kocal, Janet Adams, Elaine Sanders, and Teresa (Gary) DeYoung; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He preceded in death by his parents, William and Emily Colias; son, William H. Colias; brother, Tom Colias; in-laws, James and Helen Sanders; and brothers- in-law, Nick Julius and Jim Adams. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016, Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Avenue, Munster, IN with Fr. James Doyle, officiating. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at the funeral home, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Trisagion service at 7 p.m. Harry retired 18 years ago from A. D. Connor Trucking and was a former co-owner of Peoples INC. He graduated in 1955 from Hammond Tech High School, where he won the State Championship in wrestling at 120 lbs. with a record of 15-0, and in 2005 was inducted into the Indiana Wrestling Hall of Fame. During his adult life, Harry was the Sunday school Superintendent, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Hammond, IN, for 25 years and was the first President of DOXA. Papou loved and was loved by his three grandchildren, taking on a significant and supportive role in their upbringing. Harry lived a generous life, helping family, friends, and strangers alike in need as a life-long servant of God. His memory will live on through the many people who loved him and his bright spirit will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of Calumet Area or Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in Hegewisch, IL would be appreciated.
