John Gryn, 86, of Munster, IN, passed away Monday, October 6, 2025. John Gryn, 86, of Munster, IN, passed away Monday, October 6, 2025. He is survived by his wife Czeslawa Gryn (nee Kwiatkowski) of 51 years; daughter, Joanna (Michael) Hogan; son, Michael (Tracy) Gryn; sister, Joanna Gryn; grandchildren, Cecilia Hogan, Felicity Hogan, Kathryn Gryn, and Alex Gryn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wincenty and Michalina Gryn; and sister, Kunigunde Kruis.
John was born in Huszczka, Poland in 1939 and grew up in Germany. In 1960, he came to the United States and lived in Munster for 50 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and active member of the American Legion post 369. John was also a member of Club Syrena. He enjoyed watching soccer and the Chicago Blackhawks, though his brightest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, October 10, 2025 from 4:00-8:00 pm with military honors and a prayer service at 4:30 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN, as well as again on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 10:30-11:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm at St. Thomas More Church, 8501 Calumet Ave, Munster, IN.
