Jose Carranza, 92, of Dyer, IN passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Georgina Carranza Torres Ramos. Beloved father of Josefina Carranza; Celina (Rigoberto Godinez) Godinez- Carranza; Gumildo Carranza- Avina; Rosaelia (Jesus Nunez- Magna) Carranza- Avina; Angela Carranza; Jose (Linda) Carranza Jr.; Felix (Aquilina Cruz-Lopez) Carranza. Beloved grandfather of Rogelio Valencia- Carranza; Ivette Herrera- Godinez; Rigoberto Godinez Jr; Erik Godinez; Jovanny Godinez; Karina Martinez- Miranda; Giselle Miranda- Carranza; Jocelyn Miranda- Carranza; Veronica Miranda- Carranza; Nazareth Irene Carranza; Belen Cruz Carranza; Galilee Miriam Carranza; Judea Kristi Carranza and numerous great-grandchildren. Jose is preceded in death by his parents, Felix Carranza and Margarita Fernandez- Mendoza; his siblings, Adela Carranza; Emiliano Carranza; Tomasa Carranza; Bernardo Carranza; and Maria Carranza.

Jose worked at Field Container for 20 years. He attended Providence of God church. Jose’s favorite hobbies were playing cards, making his delicious “salsa verde” and his spicy “huevos revueltos which everyone loved, and gardening. Jose became a beloved “Papi” and “Carransita” to everyone that met him. Jose was the light in every room. His smile was contagious and loved to socialize with anyone he encountered. Jose was generous and humble and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jose’s name to the family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on January 22, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Maria Goretti Church 500 Northgate Dr. Dyer, IN. Visitation on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 2:00-6:00 pm at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Avenue, Munster, IN 46321.
