Lynn Ellen Stier (nee Jensen), 77 of Munster, IN passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2024. She was born on July 15, 1946 to Arthur and Teresa Jensen in Joliet, IL. then moved to Gary, IN and graduated from Horace Mann High School. Lynn met her husband, Rob, while working at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, IL. They also bowled in the same bowling league and would continue to bowl for years after. They married in 1972 and celebrated 51 years of marriage this past October. She is survived by her loving husband, Rob; daughter, Kathleen (Kevin) LaPorte; son, Brian Stier; grandchildren, Jaxson and Cameron LaPorte. Lynn loved her years at Horace Mann and still got together with her classmates. She was on the planning committee for most of their reunions and was looking forward to the 60th year reunion committee meetings. She also has a wonderful group of women with whom she played cards. While the girls’ group has gotten smaller, they still met to play cards on Tuesdays. Most were members of the Pelican Lake group with whom fabulous memories were made during multiple vacations. Lynn also loved her St. Paul’s crew. Whether it was helping out with activities at school, chaperoning the 8th grade class trip, or getting together for Christmas, Lynn adored her time with them. During her life, Lynn suffered with depression and recently Parkinsons Disease. She was a fighter and won most of the battles she encountered from these diseases, but this last one was too much for her. She was a loving wife and mother as well as a friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Lynn had a single sentence taped to her kitchen cabinets that read, “Friends are God’s way of taking care of us.” She was surrounded by many friends.
