Margo Powers of Dyer, Indiana, passed away on September 20, 2025, at the age of 99. Margo was born Margaret Francis Benoit on October 4, 1925. She was the only child of Leo and Marjorie Benoit of Hammond, Indiana. Margaret graduated from Hammond High School and attended Indiana University. Following her time at university, she embarked on a career as a buyer where she put her impeccable fashion sense to good use. In her younger years, Margo was an avid golfer, and she loved to dance. During her marriage to Ralph Dixon, Margo welcomed daughter Debra Sue (Dixon) Deur in January of 1949. She was a loving and devoted mother until Debra’s unexpected death in May of 2003.
Margo enjoyed a decades-long career at the Don Powers Agency. In 1986, Donald Powers and Margo were married. Alongside her husband, Mrs.Powers was a dedicated supporter of the arts and the Northwest Indiana Community. They could often be found cheering on the Purdue Boilermakers during football and basketball games. Don and Margo were blessed with a fulfilling life together until the passing of Don in April of 2015. Margo volunteered at Community Hospital until she was unable to continue. She was an enthusiastic bridge and bingo player as a member of Briar Ridge Country Club. Margo loved her family dearly, and her friends meant the world to her. Nothing brought more joy to Margo than bringing people together and having a good time. She was a stranger to few, a friend to many, and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son-in-law, Charles (Melissa) Deur and grandchildren, Juliana (Justin) Thompson and George (Megumi) Deur.
