Maria De Los Angeles “Gela” Alvarez, age 72 of Calumet City, IL passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 peacefully surrounded by family. Maria De Los Angeles “Gela” Alvarez, age 72 of Calumet City, IL passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 peacefully surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband, Ignacio Alvarez; children, Gabriel (Candice Szczepanik) Alvarez, Ruby Alvarez and Rocio (Ron) Carlson; grandchildren, Gabriel Alvarez, Isaac Alvarez, Emma Alvarez, Antonio Alvarez, Michael Gallardo, Matthew Gallardo, Marco Gallardo and Sofia Carlson; many sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and loving friends. Gela was preceded in death by her parents, Rodolfo Martinez and Angelina Salinas.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 DIRECTLY at Jesus, Shepherd of Souls Parish (formerly St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church) 768 Lincoln Ave. Calumet City, IL with a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial offered by Reverend Francisco Luna. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Calumet City, IL. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at KISH FUNERAL HOME 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 5:30 p.m. and again on Wednesday, at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. Mass.
