Maria L. Smierciak (nee Smith), age 71 of Lansing, IL passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023. Beloved wife of Ronald Smierciak; Loving mother of Cynthia (Jeffrey) Kielbasa and Ronald Smierciak Jr.; Proud grandmother of Adam Kielbasa, Alex Kielbasa and Alaina Kielbasa; Loving sister of Lyn (late Ronald) Rechlicz, Donna (Tom) Thompson and Debby White.  Maria was preceded in death by her Mother, Mona (nee Johnson) Smith; Father, Walter “Smitty” Smith; Sister, Barbara Milanowski; Nephew, Michael Milanowski and Niece, Nicole Dubeck.

Maria was a graduate of T.F. North High School Class of 1969, after which she was employed at U.S Steel Corporation in Chicago, IL.  She was an administrative assistant at School District 171 in Lansing, IL followed by working as a product line specialist at Tri-State Industries in Hammond, IN were she retired from. She will be missed by many loving nieces, nephews, family members, co-workers and friends.

Visitation will be on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 2:00pm to 8:00pm at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave Munster, IN 46321 and a Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 10:00am at St. John Bosco Catholic Church 7113 Columbia Avenue Hammond, IN 46324.  Interment will be private.
