Mary R. (nee Schelfo) Morrissey, age 94 of Hammond, IN passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020.  Born in Dyer, IN in 1925 to Helen and Joseph Schelfo and married the late Robert Morrissey in 1944, who preceded her in death in 1986.  She is survived by her sister, Florence Wineland, brother, Edward and Virginia Schelfo, sister-in-law, Betty Smith; and will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews.  Mary was preceded in death by family members; Pauline and Ralph Zarling, Rose and Robert Terranova; Joseph and Shirley Schelfo, Frank and Rose Schelfo and Clarence Schelfo.

Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at Kish Funeral Home 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN with Reverend Theodore Mens officiating.  Interment followed at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens Crown Point, IN.

Out of an abundance of caution and protocol set forth by the CDC and NFDA, the family wishes to express a deep regret for those who were unable to share in this wonderful tribute to Mary and hope that you forever keep her in your hearts.

Mary retired from J.C. Penney as a Catalog Supervisor after 42 years of service.  She liked working in her yard and sending cards to the sick.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary’s name to St. Joseph’s Soup Kitchen Hammond, IN.
