God bless Mel and protect him forever! He was a great man to took great care of the neighborhood kids in Roseland. He and Pat were delightful to be around. From playing ball, riding in his 1957 Ford convertible to the baseball fields, to hanging out at the corner store that he operated at 114th & Wentworth, Mel was always around and involved with the kids of the neighborhood. Always remembered fondly!

Mel was an inspiration to all of us younger guys growing up in Roseland. He took time out of his day to take us to play ball & teach us the game. We got to visit Mel & Pat at the local grocery store that they operated as well. My sympathy to his family. Mel made a difference in my life!!
