Robert J. “Bob” Wojcik, of Munster, Indiana, was called home by God on December 26, 2022. He was born in East Chicago on June 26, 1940 to John A. and Irene H. (Kolanowski) Wojcik. Bob was a graduate of St. Stanislaus School, Bishop Noll High School (Class of 1958) and attended Purdue University. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, Signal Corps, trained as a paratrooper and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division and 18th Airborne Corps stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. In 1963, Bob married the love of his life, June (Kramarzewski) Wojcik. Together they raised five children and worked side by side to run the family business and various real estate ventures.
Bob successfully owned and operated George’s Concrete for over 50 years. He also was a real estate broker and residential/commercial developer for several apartment, condominium and office/shopping center projects. He served as Chairman of the Board for Cement Masons Local 692 and was a member of the Veterans Association of America, American Legion Post 369, and Knights of Columbus-1700. Bob always had a soft spot in his heart for those in need and was particularly proud to sponsor the Alley Cats Special Bowling League for “Persons of Different Abilities” for many years.
You could often find Bob listening to doo-wop music and solving crossword puzzles. He also was an avid reader and notably enjoyed history. Most of all, he appreciated spending time with his family and especially loved all family gatherings! Bob truly enjoyed people and knew no stranger! He went out of his way to wave or say “hello” to whomever he encountered. He was very fond of his dear school friends, neighbors, business partners, local business owners, and his extended family.
