Rudolph Tanasijevich, 87 (4/28/1928), of Hammond, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. He is survived by his wife LaVon (Née Budd) of 60 years, his sons George (Georgia Kolettis) and Rudolph Chris (Shannon Docherty), his six (Tanasijevich) grandchildren Hayley, Morgan, John, Dylan, Celsea and Christina, his sister Ruth Swanson (late John Swanson), his nephew John Robert Swanson (Janet Meyer), his nieces Paula Swanson (Julian Harr) and Mary Georgina Swanson (Denis Roarty), his grandnieces Moya, Jane and Clare Roarty and his cousin Mildred Beconovich (late Dr. Robert).Rudy grew up in east Hammond, and attended Maywood School, Hammond High School, Indiana University and then graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1953. He practiced law in Hammond for over 57 years and was a referee in the City of Hammond Court for 10 of those years. His passions in life were his family and friends, playing golf at Woodmar Country Club, reading newspapers, the Chicago Cubs and Michigan football. Rudy was a member of St. George’s Serbian Orthodox Church in East Chicago and a lifelong member of the United Serbian Society after his parents George (1910) and Mara (1926) immigrated to the states from Herzegovina (Dolovi), Yugoslavia.No funeral service is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rudy’s name to the University of Michigan general scholarship fund.
