William Scherer, 86, of Dyer, IN passed away July 4, 2012. He is survived by his loving wife, Madelyn (nee Puoci) Scherer; son, Dennis (Paulette) Scherer; daughter, Gloria (Rany) Lang; grandchildren: Dennis (Linda) Scherer, Liane (Michael) Bania, Rebecca (Kevin) Santefort, Scott Lang (Jennifer Biesboer), Phillip Lang, and Marc (Courtney) Lang; great grandchildren: Charles Bania, Nathan Scherer, Alexander Scherer, Hannah Scherer, Abigail Scherer, Carolyn Bania, and Levi Lang. Visitation will be Sunday, July 8, 2012 from 2:00-7:00 p.m. with a Chapel service at 4:00 p.m. at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. (next to Fitness Pointe), Munster, IN. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL with military honors at 12:00 noon. William worked at Kool-Rite Sales in Chicago. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, #1696 of Whiting, for over 50 years. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps and Corporal WWII in Japan. In lieu of flowers, donations to Alzheimer's Heartland Hospice in Frankfort, IL appreciated.
