Alan “Buddy” Rooth

Alan Rooth, 77 of Munster, IN passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2012. Alan is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Judith Rooth; his admiring and loving two sons, Barry (Lisa) and Robert (Melissa); his adoring grandchildren: Jennifer, Jordan, Jessica and Jacob, and his sister, Charlene (Bob) Zand; and his brother-in-law, Jay (Carol) Karol. Alan is also survived by a niece and many nephews. Finally, Alan will be missed by his dear friends, including Chuck and Helene Elias, Renee Richter and Jerry and Toby Fisher. Alan grew up on the north side of Chicago, where he attended Von Steuben High School. He received a bachelor of science degree from Loyola University (Chicago), where he graduated first in his class. Alan was a highly regarded executive working in the non-ferrous metal industry for over 40 years. Alan was very active in the Northwest Indiana Jewish community for over 50 years, where he held various leadership positions at the Knesseth Israel and Congregation Beth Israel synagogues, and the Northwest Indiana Jewish Federation. Funeral service will be Friday, September 28, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Kneseth Israel Cemetery, Hammond, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Congregation Beth Israel
