Alfred J. Justak, 81 of Highland, IN passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013. Beloved husband for 60 years of Laura (nee Koepke); loving father of Mark (Cheryl) Justak, Kathy (Charles) Liberatore and Susie (Dan) Shaner; cherished grandfather of Justin Liberatore, Tiffany (Aaron) Smith, Sam and Scott Shaner; proud great grandfather of Austin Alfred Smith; caring brother of Margie (Keith) Smith; preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Justak.Juicy served his country with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 150 and St. James Church. He loved to go fishing and to grow vegetables and beautiful flowers in his garden. In his earlier years, he enjoyed spending time with his family water skiing in the summer and snow skiing in the winter. He also loved to watch sports and cheer for Notre Dame, the Cubs and the Bears. However, what gave Juicy one of the greatest joys in his life was spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their baseball, football and basketball games throughout their school years. He was everyone’s biggest fan! Visitation will be on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 3:00-8:00 PM with a prayer service at 4:00 PM at Kish Funeral Home, 10000 Calumet Ave. Munster, IN and on Saturday from 9:30-10:00 AM at the church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10:00 AM at St. James Church, Highland, IN. Interment will be at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN.In lieu of flowers, contributions to the American Heart Association in his memory would be appreciated.
